Are you wearing the right size bra? As you have probably heard me say by now, I believe undergarments are the most important part of a woman’s wardrobe, and my newest video for Lane Bryant Fashion TV is all about finding the perfect bra fit! Wearing the proper bras {and shapewear} adds support and control where needed, smooths out imperfections to ensure that clothing lies properly on the body, and most importantly, the perfect fitting bra gives you the comfort you need to tackle your day with confidence.

Finding the perfect bra fit comes down to two main components– the science and the art… The science is in the measurement! Follow these simple steps to achieve the proper bra fit:

The art of a proper bra fit is finding the perfect fit and bra silhouette for your specific breast shape… There are three main breast shapes: full, average and shallow:

Don’t be afraid to try different bra styles to see how the fit of each silhouette feels!
Once you take your proper measurements, and determine your breast shape, some minor adjustments may need to be made to determine your perfect fit…
- If you carry more weight in your back {which means your cup or breast tissue is smaller} you would need a smaller cup size
- If you carry more weight in the front, and you may need a larger cup size
A few important questions to ask yourself…
- Redness– Does your bra band or straps create redness on your torso and shoulders? If so, the band and cup of the bra you are wearing is too small
- Bubbling– Does your breast tissue “bubble up” on top of the bra cup? If so, the cup of the bra is definitely too small.
- Breastbone– The front center of your bra should touch your breastbone, and all of your breast tissue should sit comfortably inside the wire of the bra.
- Apex– The apex of your breast should sit midway between your elbow and your shoulder. This is the most appropriate place for your breast to sit.
The most important thing to remember when shopping for bras is to have FUN! Think outside the basics and try a bold, vibrant color, a fun, seasonal print, or even add a little lace! Your bras do NOT need to be boring!

I really love all the bras shown above but being a 44DD COMFORT IS my main concern. It sure is painfully when wearing the incorrect bra. So I am excited to see the new choices above.

Hi Reah, my favorite bra has always been the smooth boost plunge bra. I have always how if fits and makes my girls look. But after giving birth to my third child and breastfeeding I think is time to go in for a measurement and new bras, new styles to feel sexy again.

I love the Lace balconette bra the best! I feel like it keeps me “all in” and gives me a great shape, while still also feeling beautiful and looking sexy. I love the balconette and ghe tshirt bras. The balconette bras give me the vavavoom that i need to feel more sexy and the tshirt bra is more of a casual relax bra. I love them both for my 40DD mega breasts 🙂

My favorite by far would have to be the Balconette bra, it’s full coverage, great support and my chichis aren’t spilling out of no where. I’m in love with this bra it makes me feel more sexy and confident to have the girls sitting right.
I must be honest! I hate bra shopping! Its torture for a plus size women. Black, beige, white!! That is all I ever see and then to walk out with ONE bra and your bank account is now on negative is a tragedy! I don’t own any lane bryant bras’ because I normally can’t afford them! I have been measured numerous times at Macy’s and yet spillage is still a problem for me! I also have permanent bruises on my shoulders from being so top heavy and yet a smaller top frame that can’t really support my g breasts!! I really only bra shop every two years because its a headache and disappointment each time!
I love the Illusion full coverage bra…simple with a hint of sexy!
I really like the beautiful lace plunge bra because it’s really fun with 2 straps and a gorgeous lace (in aubergine!!!) but for the work days the full coverage bra with lace is a must!

The Passion Lace Plunge Bra is my favorite! It’s comfortable, sexy, and lacy! It’s one of the few bra’s that I actually feel comfortable in. 🙂
I love the plunge bras b/c I tend to wear a lot of v-neck, wrap, etc that are lower neckline. I have my standard solids but love to spice it up with fun prints too! My fave purchase recently was actually a no wire bra for the weekends….soooo comfy! LB is the only place I can find fun and comfy bras that fit!!!

All the bras shown above are gorgeous, love the colors. The first one is really sexy too. I’m just really confused on my size, every bra I get ends up poking me because the wire comes out whether big or small..
I love the no wire cotton bras because they are so comfortable. Bras with wire start to irritate me after a while but when I get them I get the full coverage bra to cover the front and smooth out the back as well
Hi Reah! My favorite is the Smooth Satin No-Wire Bra. I absolutely love this bra! I don’t need to constantly adjust or shift around. It’s soft and smooth. It is padded enough for comfort and keep things from showing, but not too much to make me look even bigger. It doesn’t let the girls sag like a lot of wireless bras do.
My favorite is the cotton boost plunge bra with lace. It’s comfortable and sexy.
I really like the cotton full coverage with lace. It looks comfortable, and not something i would want to rip off when i got home.
The balconette bra is my favorite it gives the proper lift for my breast type and the underwire is extremely comfortable.

I am a faithful wearer of cacique bras from Lane Bryant. I usually get the full coverage bras with lace. They last me for years!
The balconette bras are my absolute favorite!! They give the right amount of coverage and support.
My fave bra is the plunging balconette. I love that it gives me support and comfort in a pretty bra.
I like the purple one with the white lace. It is pretty and as a big busted women it covers good. I have never had a Lb bra as they are pricey and I would like to try them to make sure they fit. She does have nice things.
