I am lucky to say that I get to work with the best plus size models in the industry, and in early December {2012} I had the pleasure of styling the french Dorothy Combs model Clementine Desseaux in NYC for the January 2013 issue of PLUS Model Magazine.
One word sums up this experience… AMAZING!
Team PMM has been fans of Clementine for some time now, and Editor-in-Chief, Madeline Figueroa-Jones knew she was the perfect choice for our first issue of 2013. Clementine literally blew us away! She has spectacular freedom in front of the camera and is not afraid to take the chances needed to capture an image that is out of this world!
Our concept for the shoot was “modern beatnik meets sexy Parisian” as a nod to Clem’s roots. A modern girl with vintage influence from NYC and Paris in the 50’s and 60’s, who is artistic, expresses her freedom, and makes no apologies for the confidence and sexiness she exudes.
When putting a PMM editorial together, the first thing Maddy and I do is gather visual inspiration and create a mood board, which begins to shape our shoot. Once we settle on the location, lighting concept and wardrobe direction, we create a story board, then we are off and running!

For the fashion direction in the editorial, I concentrated on sexy, body con silhouettes with beautiful texture, rich fabrications, and accents of gold and animal print. Sexy bed head hair, berets, leather, velour, black, deep burgundy and purple all shaped this story to perfection. Some of the plus size fashion brands that I featured include
17 Sundays,
Domino Dollhouse,
Chubby Cartwheels,
Monif C,
Baby Phat, and
Blacklisted Couture.
