The best part of Full-Figured Fashion Week {FFF Week}, is of course, seeing all the gorgeous plus size fashion coming down the runway {obviously}! I always take mental notes and snap pics of my favorites from the new collections, cataloging them for future editorial and personal styling pulls. I especially love seeing the emerging designers who are showing their collections for the first time. This year, since I was backstage styling the Sonsi runway collection {recaps here and here}, I did not get my normal front row view of the designs. I did, however, have an even better, up-close and personal view of the designs in the cramped quarters of backstage, and when I saw Nancy Herkul, creator and designer of the Curvezz collection, taking all her gorgeous pieces out of their garment bags, I knew the line was going to be one of my favs on the runway!
I first heard about the Curvezz collection, from my friend and plus model Allison McGevna, who is the face of the collection, and- in my opinion, a perfect choice for a model muse! It is always refreshing to me, as a plus size consumer, when a designer chooses a curvier model to represent their collection!
Bodycon silhouettes, glorious jewel tones, lace overlays, classic jumpsuits with dramatic detailing, metallic animal print, curve enhancing peplums, and floor length sequin gowns.
Here are a few of my stand out looks from Nancy’s FFF Week debut…
Love the modern 80’s vibe of this dress- classic red, zipper detail and a playful hip peplum
that is perfect for a straighter body type looking to create more curves!
Classic surplice jumpsuit done in the color of the season- emerald! Loving the 3/4 sleeve length to draw in the waist, and the dramatic detailing of the fringe sleeve and animal print belt. So chic!
This style takes chances! Not only is it sleeveless, but it is animal print AND metallic {gasp}!!!
Love the drama of the long peplum on this. Perfect to camouflage a tummy!
Who does not love a head-to-toe sequin gown??? I almost want to call this a wardrobe staple {hehe}.
This curve hugging mermaid style makes no apologies!
Ladylike and sexy…
I can see this dress walking the red carpet, or even on a chic bride who is looking for a non traditional gown.
There are several more styles here in this promo piece that I also love from the Curvezz collection. Classic styles with just the perfect amount of drama and sophistication, and there is something for everyone- no matter what your personal style or body type.
Since FFF Week, Nancy has announced two huge PR partnerships that she has made within her fashion house. She has teamed up with plus size designer
Evie Foster, who has put her own line on hold and come on board to act as Curvezz Public Relations Manager and Consultant. We were first introduced to Evie when she debuted her own collection on the
FFF Week runway in 2012, and these two dynamic and passionate women have teamed up to make fashion magic happen!
Here is what the dynamic duo has to say:
{Evie says}
“Nancy is currently working hard on the next Curvezz Collection and is confident that everyone will love what will be offered. The label is definitely feminine, strong and elegant!”
{Nancy added} “It is important for Curvezz to contribute to the way women feel about themselves. We want to show the world that our brand stands for self-confidence, style and feeling good about yourself, so therefore it is important that whoever we have representing the Curvezz Brand is a good cultural fit.”
Evie will be representing the Curvezz brand in the US and Australia, and Nancy recently announced her partnership with PR Guru,
Peepers Denmark, who will be representing the Curvezz collection in Denmark and Sweden.
In collaboration with Peepers Denmark, a new Curvezz Collection will emerge in 2014 called “
Consumer Collection“, which will apparently be consumer driven and focused. I am on pins and needles to hear more about this project, and so curious to know how Nancy will involve the plus size consumer in her design process, while still maintaining her vision for Curvezz principal aesthetic. You can join their
Fashion Is You FB page and add your opinions and suggestions, and keep up on all the brand news!
“Fashion is created to the consumer and for the consumer, and that we celebrate!”
Looking forward to seeing the focus and inspiration for the new collection!
The plus size fashion world is ready and watching!
