Spring is my favorite season and I am so excited to be celebrating with the PLUS Model Magazine spring fashion issue! I have to admit, I have been doing A LOT of shopping in preparation for the season; adding amazing vibrant colors, bold prints, and silhouettes with playful attitude to my wardrobe.

For this month’s issue, I left the LA sunshine and headed to the cold, icy NYC snow to curate two amazing spring fashion editorials, and in the midst of the freezing temps and winter storms, we made spring magic happen!

Our cover girl is Dorothy Combs model, Arissa LeBrock, the daughter of Vogue cover model/actress Kelly LeBrock and actor Steven Seagal, who is a plus size model on the rise. For Arissa’s spring fashion editorial (pgs 97-112) I concentrated on sophisticated spring trend looks, and brought together the season’s best colors, silhouettes, and textures…

We also shot our first #PMMSOCIAL spring fashion editorial for this issue (pgs 77-86),  featuring an unsigned model we chose from PMM Twitter named Halle Stanley and the entire editorial was shot using an iPhone!!!  

We used Instagram to document this exciting project and give our readers a behind the scenes look at the photo shoot as it was happening.  Bringing readers and fans into the photo shoot in real time was a much different experience for us, as we are usually on social media lock down until the issue goes live on the first of the month.  It was really cool to be able to give everyone a play by play as we were working!  The fashion focus of Halle’s editorial was also on spring plus size trends…

It was so refreshing to play with bold color palettes, fun patterns and rich textures for both shoots, highlighting spring trends straight from the runway, and translating them into wearable ensembles for every size and body type.  This is what I love about my job!
