{Styling Work} Emily Nichols for PLUS Model Magazine

In the June issue of PLUS Model Magazine, I got to style amazing plus size model, Emily Nichols for the first time.  I have been dying to work with her, and what better way to celebrate the beginning of summer and the season’s hottest plus size fashion trends, than with a cover shoot at one of the most popular places in the world… Venice beach, California, where people from all walks of life come together, nothing you see is a surprise, and absolutely anything goes!

It is always such a treat when we shoot a PMM editorial in LA, and Venice’s quaint canals, lively boardwalk, colorful graffiti walls, and gorgeous sunset were the perfect backdrop for our ultimate ode to summer, shot by photographer Inez Lewis, hair and makeup by Brittany Sullivan, production by Sarah Sapora and Madeline Jones, and my amazing assistant, Sauncia.

My inspiration for this shoot was the ultimate California girl vibe- sexy, bohemian, free spirited, and a vibrant, unapologetic attitude that leaves you craving the dog days of summer.

Color galore, aztec prints, kimonos, pattern on pattern, gauzy fabrications, shorts, straw hats, and crop tops and bikinis that are easy to throw on under your outfit for a day in the sun are everything that California dreams are made of on some of my favorite plus size brands and retailers: Living Doll Los Angeles, ASOS Curve, Swimsuits for All, Josephine Swim, Forever 21 Plus, Wet Seal Plus, Eloquii, and even a few festive head pieces that I hand made for the shoot {including the one above}!
