Fresh Wardrobe Classics
As much as I love to wear the season’s latest trends, I always come back to the timeless classics in my closet that have become my favorite pieces to mix and match over and over into different wardrobe combinations.
So, what items are considered timeless classics? Honestly, this may be different for everyone, depending on what your daily go-to pieces are, and as your personal style evolves, so will your basics. That being said, there are some fresh wardrobe classics that I have recently added to my closet that go a bit above and beyond your average “wardrobe basic”, and offer endless timeless looks that I can use as a foundation to incorporate seasonal trends, colors and textures into.
1. The Button-Down Plaid Shirt– Tartan, buffalo check, madras, gingham, and window pane in endless color palettes… The plaid shirt has been in vogue for decades, and is not going away any time soon. I have added several plaid styles to my closet this past season, and have them in heavy outfit rotation. I am wearing a tartan plaid by Fashion to Figure. Shop these selects ///
2. Belted Waterfall Vest– This modern hybrid of the khaki trench/wrap coat/ full length vest is a minimalist’s dream, and an effortless neutral layering piece that can be worn open or belted, and layered to perfection! I am wearing the sleeveless waterfall jacket from Simply Be. Shop these selects ///
3. Almond Toe Flats– Season after season, the pointed-toe vs. round-toe flat shoe designs come in and out of style, and now the beloved almond-toe flat styles {shaped like an almond, with a soft point} work to elongate the leg, without the extreme statement of pointed-toe styles. I am wearing perforated leather loafers by Dolce Vita. Shop these selects ///
4. The Super Stretch Skinny– We all know and love the skinny jean, but they can be very restricting if the denim does not have a lot of stretch. I am in love with the 6th & Lane Super Skinny from Lane Bryant that I am wearing {I have 3 pair}!!! They are super comfy and soft like a jegging, but are a bit high waisted and function like a regular jean, so they are very wearable, even with the more narrow hem at the ankle {which makes them a “super skinny”}. Sleek and chic stems!!! Shop these selects ///
5. Saddle Shoulder Bag– A sleek, compact shoulder bag style is a definite classic straight from the 70’s that has been redifined for modern sophistication, thanks to Chloé’s highly coveted “Drew” shoulder bag. My gold plated detail saddle bag is from Torrid. Shop these selects ///
