{What I Wore} MTV Movie Awards
A few weeks ago, Maddy Figueroa-Jones, EIC of PLUS Model Magazine, came to LA to shoot the May 2013 PMM cover and swim editorial {check it out here}…
We were invited to the 2013 Mtv Movie Awards, hosted by my bff {in my head}, Rebel Wilson, so we took the evening off to squeeze in some fun before our shoot.
This is the second time I have attended this particular award show in LA, so I knew the vibe would be casual, young, hip and fun, and that we would be sitting for several hours. I definitely wanted my outfit to be cute, yet comfortable, which is actually always my main goal when getting dressed!
I recently scored this amazing green tweed Alfani blazer with faux leather trim on clearance at Macy’s, and I hadn’t had a chance to wear it, so I used it as a base, then built my outfit around it.

Tweed can naturally look very “business”, since that is how the fashion world traditionally knows it, so I paired it with my favorite oversized denim chambray shirt to keep it more cazh…
… and finished off the look with black jeggings for a sleek finish, and added my favorite embellished flats.

As expected, Rebel Wilson was unapologetic in her humor {which I completely respect} and she definitely oozed confidence! Way to rep the curvy girls, Rebel! My only criticism was her outfit and hair style choices. She had a huge opportunity to speak to a wide audience outside of the plus size industry, and to wear some amazing plus size fashion. I would have loved to see her knock it out of the park, but instead, I was underwhelmed and confused. All of her ensembles were costumes, some of which were part of her shtiks throughout the show, but others that made NO sense and left me scratching my head… Rebel- CALL ME! Let’s make some plus size fashion magic happen!
Maddy and I had a great time at the show! It was nice to take a little break from work {which is hard for Maddy and I to do}, and enjoy some of the fun perks of being in LA.
Did you get a chance to see the show? What did you think???
Here is some video fun from my new favorite app, VINE…
